I am a philosopher of science and a visiting researcher in the ACMI lab. My doctoral work centres on mathematical modelling in science with a particular focus on machine learning considered as a type of mathematical modelling. My focus is on building philosophical accounts that encourage modellers towards epistemic rigour. This work extends to debates which have traditionally fallen under the purview of AI and ML ethics, where many issues of discriminatory decision-making with deployed ML can be resolved by employing better modelling practices.
